Helping each other in life

Tomorrow makes 1 year in SE Asia for me. It’s hard to believe that so much time has passed. Then again it also feels like 2 months not 1 year.

During this time I backpacked in 5 different countries. All of them on a low budget with a very heavy backpack. And in all of them I met amazing people.

It wasn’t all sunshine and rainbow like most people think but at the end of the day there were more positive moments than negative.

And one thing that keeps sticking with me is my nature to help others. It’s one of those things I have been doing all my life. Sometimes even putting myself on the sidelines to help others. I learned to not do that any more but that doesn’t mean I help others less. I just know when to put myself first an take care of me before I can take care of others.

Helping others is part of my identity. It’s the thing that makes me get up in the morning. And being a teacher is where I can do that more than anywhere else. I have always taught in one way or another. But being called a teacher and working as a teacher makes it a lot more real.

For the last couple of months I have been teaching English. This year was the first time in my life that I began teaching a language. It has been a difficult and rewarding experience. I have met people from all kinds of background who all want to learn a new language for different reasons.

People from all over the world, of all ages came to me to give them lessons. But the one that stuck with me most is a 14-year-old girl that I just started teaching. She reminds me of me at her age. She wants to see the world and explore and enjoy. But she comes from a Muslim family so for her this vision is more difficult that for a European girl of the same age. Her mom came to me because she failed her English exam. But not because she doesn’t know any English but because her English teacher didn’t teach her anything. When I found that out I made it my mission to teach this girl what her school teacher didn’t. And that is what makes teaching so fulfilling for me. I get to see people grow. I get to see them learn something they didn’t know before. And that is way I will always teach in one way or the other.

It is my dream to open my own school and paragliding school. To help children get a life education and to introduce this amazing sport to more and more people. And being a teacher right now is helping me make a more detailed vision of what I want those schools to look like.

I wish you find your calling in this life. Somethings that makes you feel as rewarding as teaching makes me.

Tell me in the comments what makes you feel amazing that you want to do this for as long as you can. I love hearing people talk about things they love to do. It lights them up and that lights me up.

HaveFun*
